August brings a bounty of perennials and annuals coming into their glory. My absolute favorite are the lightly scented formosa lilies that grow 6 feet tall with 4-10 cream flowers with a burgundy stripe PER stem! Other favorites: the many varieties of Dahlias that I keep adding to; Orange speckled blackberry lily which twists up after flowering and creates seed pods-amazing architecture for a cut flower. The heliopsis, echinacea, crocosmia, rudbeckia, lobelia, roses and Japanese anenome are all going strong. My garden has been planned for this late summer bounty, when many home gardeners have only that early spring push. I grow an amazing variety of favorites and unusual varieties of annuals each year, including verbena, nicotinia, zinnias, cosmos, salvia, Maltese cross, basket flower, celosia, and so much more that are all flowering in August. I will happily make a large arrangement, and/or a series of small and unique arrangements (lovely little gifts for friends). One wonderful client puts a large arrangement in her kitchen, and small arrangements in her and her daughter’s bedroom every ten days.
